Renewable Fuel Credits (ERE, or Emissie Reductie Eenheden in Dutch) are an underestimated revenue source for VvEs with a charging facility. Every kWh charged generates income - provided it is properly registered.
What are Renewable Fuel Credits?
Renewable Fuel Credits (ERE) are certificates issued for every kWh delivered via a semi-public or public charging point. They were created to encourage the greening of transport. Fuel companies are required to have a certain percentage of renewable energy in their mix and purchase ERE credits from parties that facilitate electric charging - such as VvEs with a charging facility.
How much does an ERE credit yield?
The market value of ERE credits varies. In practice, the value is between €0.42 and €0.49 per ERE credit. Per kWh charged, you receive 32% of that value when charging with grid electricity, and 64% when charging with demonstrably own green power (solar panels). This makes own generation particularly attractive.
We work with specialised booking service providers. The VvE authorises us to secure the best terms on its behalf - you don't need to arrange anything yourself.
Who handles the registration?
Registration of ERE credits must be done by an accredited booking service provider. We outsource this but always ensure the VvE gets the best conditions. The yield is offset against the kWh price, resulting in lower charging costs for residents.
Urgency: every month you wait costs money
Every kWh charged without ERE registration is lost revenue. You can claim retroactively for the previous year - until the first quarter of the following year. After that the right lapses permanently.
